My Story

This work is deeply personal.

It’s a reflection of my years spent walking alongside individuals and couples as a marriage and family therapist—bearing witness to their sacred, often tender journeys of healing, growth, and story work. Through the winding and sometimes messy paths of heart restoration, I’ve seen firsthand how transformative emotional awareness and connection can be.

Along the way, the imagery of an emotional box began to take shape. It became a simple yet powerful way to understand how we carry our stories, emotions, wounds, and learned patterns—how we dump them on people in our lives, store them away, avoid them, or finally turn toward them with honesty and care. What started as a tool for my clients became something deeply meaningful in my own life. It’s now central to both my practice and my personal journey.

In the early years of my marriage to my husband, Keith, we genuinely believed we were doing things “right.” We were committed. We loved each other. We wanted to grow. Yet beneath the surface lived unspoken fears, subtle patterns of control, and a quiet codependency we didn’t yet have language for. We thought we were helping and supporting one another, but often we were simply managing each other’s emotions in order to feel safe ourselves.

What we’ve learned—and what we’re still learning—is this: real emotional health doesn’t come from changing what we say. It comes from changing how we relate—first to ourselves, and then to one another.

It means learning to be honest. To be human. To take ownership of our inner world without trying to fix, manage, or control our partner’s. When we do this work, something begins to grow that we didn’t even know how to name at first: emotional safety. When we cultivate emotional safety in our closest relationships, not only does healing happen, but true intimacy grows. 

As a therapist—and as a human, a wife, and a mom with a full emotional box of my own—this is the work I care deeply about. My hope is that this space feels safe and supportive, a place where you can slow down, reflect, and practice showing up with greater empathy and compassion—for yourself and for those you love.
